BChat Privacy Policy
BChat is a private messenger that doesn’t collect your personal information.
BChat App
BChat is a fully anonymous messenger. The BChat DApp doesn’t store any personally identifiable information about your devices, such as your IP address. You also don't need a phone number, email address, or any information tied to your real-world identity to create a BChat account. We created BChat so that your conversations can truly be private.
You don’t need to change your privacy settings or get technical to make BChat private. It is private by default.
The first time you use BChat, you need to connect to one of the Masternodes run by the Beldex Foundation which serves you a list of nodes in the network. Your IP address can be seen by the Masternode, but your IP is not recorded. You can choose to shield your real IP by using a VPN. The Masternode will never see who you’re talking to or what you’re talking about.
Data Collection
We are committed to privacy. In all of our recent product features and functionalities, we ensure that no personal data is collected. Your data is safe and secure with you. Since we do not collect any data, we also don’t store any personally identifiable information. Emphasizing once again, BChat does NOT collect or store any data, including phone numbers, email IDs, or any other personally identifiable information
Your privacy is our priority, and we design our features with this in mind. Every update and new functionality is rigorously tested to ensure it aligns with our strict privacy standards. We believe in transparency and integrity, ensuring that your conversations and interactions remain confidential and secure.
Furthermore, our infrastructure is built to uphold the highest standards of privacy. We don't track your activities, gather metadata, such as your geographic location or use third-party analytics that could compromise your anonymity. Our commitment to a privacy-first approach means that your interactions are solely your own, free from any form of surveillance or data collection.
By choosing BChat, you are choosing a platform that respects and upholds your right to privacy in every aspect. Your trust and privacy are the foundations upon which BChat is built.
As an open-source project, we encourage transparency and community involvement. Our source code is available for anyone to review and audit. If you are interested, you can access our code on GitHub at https://github.com/Beldex-Coin/bchat-android. This allows you to see exactly how BChat operates and verify our commitment to privacy firsthand.
User Data Deletion
We understand that users may wish to delete their data at any time. If you choose to delete your data, you can easily do so by following these steps: go to My Account -> Settings -> Clear Data -> Delete Entire Account on BChat. By selecting this option, all data related to your account will be permanently deleted. This ensures that you have complete control over your information and can manage your privacy according to your preferences.
Message Storage
We do not store your messages for longer than it is needed as a standard practice when providing our services to you. Your messages are stored on your device and are generally saved on our servers only for 14 days for the purpose of successfully delivering it to the recipient. After 14 days, your messages are unconditionally deleted from our servers. Your messages are encrypted during transit, and only the intended recipient can decrypt them.:
Undelivered Messages: If a message cannot be delivered (for example, if the recipient is offline), we keep it in encrypted form on our servers for up to 14 days while we attempt to deliver it. If a message remains undelivered for 14 days after it is sent, it is deleted.
All messages sent on BChat are end-to-end encrypted. This means that your messages are encrypted to protect them from being read by us or any third parties.
App stores
If you use BChat on your Android or iOS phone, Google or Apple might store information about how you use the app using the telemetry features which are built into their operating systems.
They can record when the app is closed or opened, or how long you use it, crash logs, and your device model. This usage information could also be linked with your Google or Apple account. Unfortunately, this is a limitation of mobile operating systems and applies to all apps used on your device until a privacy-first decentralized mobile operating system goes mainstream.
If you’re planning to use BChat on mobile, it’s worth reading Apple or Google’s privacy policies. If you’re using iOS, check out Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines. For Android, read the User Data section of Google’s Developer Policy Center.
